Pueblo, CO Public Schools
Pueblo City Schools (District 60)
Pueblo’s first school building was a one-room adobe hut built near the Fountain River around 1862. As the population grew, additional buildings and teachers were added. In 1866 “School District One” served what was then the north side of town. In the summer of 1873, “District Twenty” was organized. Additionally, the small districts 22, 43, and 45 existed briefly, but were quickly absorbed into the larger two districts.
Pueblo School Districts One and Twenty were consolidated into Pueblo School “District 60” in 1946. In 2006 the district underwent a name change when it became “Pueblo City Schools.” The district now enrolls more than 18,000 students.

For 75 years, Pueblo Community College (PCC) has provided the education and training that gives our students the skills they need to qualify for good jobs or to transfer to a four-year school. We are a two-year community college accredited by The Higher Learning Commission - a member of the North Central Association - and we are a member of the Colorado Community College System, the fastest-growing educational system in Colorado.
We offer more than 50 certificate and Associate Degree programs, and we are a state leader in health care education. The job-placement rate for graduates of our Health Professions programs is virtually 100%, and many are hired before they even graduate. In August, 2007, we launched a new Massage Therapy program, Fire Science program, and Energy Maintenance program. In March 2009 PCC continued to expand educational opportunities with the implementation of a Cosmetology program.
